Professional Learning Institute
Valuing all our people and developing them as professionals and lifelong learners
Welcome to Summit Learning Trust’s Professional Learning Institute (PLI)
Summit Learning Trust Mission: Deliver exceptional education to children and young people in the West Midlands, enabling them all to have successful, happy lives and make a positive impact on their communities.
The ambition of our Professional Learning Institute (PLI) is to enable all colleagues from across Summit Learning Trust to access and engage with high quality, evidence informed Professional Learning, to help them in being the best version of themselves, and in delivering the best opportunities for our children and young people.
Valuing all our people and developing them as professionals and lifelong learners is at the heart of everything that we do at the PLI, and is underpinned by the following 6 core principles:
1. Create a shared culture for taking responsibility of our own, group and collective professional development and lifelong learning.
2. Establish meaningful collaborative relationships between academies within, and beyond, Summit Learning Trust.
3. Ensure that all professional learning aids the provision of high-quality educational experiences and supports the highest levels of academic progress for all our learners.
4. Develop a reflective cycle of professional inquiry to improve practice.
5. Utilise research and evidence-based practice to long term developments. .
6. Embrace opportunities for coaching and growth principles in all we do
The PLI provides the centralised focus for all colleagues to get involved in a wide range of formal and informal professional learning opportunities. Everything we do will be considered as an opportunity to learn! Promoting self-evaluation and evidence informed practice, the PLI enables colleagues to identify areas of professional learning need and to take ownership of their Professional Learning journeys.
